APY Lands Electorate Review 2011
Under the APY Land Rights Act 1981 (the Act) the Minister for
Aboriginal Affairs & Reconciliation is required to undertake a
review of the electoral boundaries on the APY Lands.
The electoral boundaries must be reviewed not more than 3
months before each election. With the next APY Lands general
elections for the Executive Board due to be held later this
year, the Government is now undertaking the review.
The electorate review provides an opportunity for APY Lands
communities to speak with the State Government about the review
process, to find out what it may mean for you, and for you to
provide advice to the State Government. Anangu from community
and homelands are invited to make verbal or written submission
to either the APY Executive Board or the Department for Premier
and Cabinet, Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation Division by
the close of business on Friday 16 September 2011.
