The Council for the Australian Federation (CAF)
was formed in 2006 to improve the way the States
and Territories deliver the main key services
that affect Australians' daily lives - public
education, health and hospitals, police services
and emergency management, urban and rural development,
the environment, water, transportation, infrastructure
and services, and cultural and recreational
amenities. CAF consists of Premiers and Chief
Ministers from all Australian States and Territories,
and is currently chaired by Victorian Premier
John Brumby, who was also a key player in getting
CAF underway.
