National Competition Policy < Home

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet's role is to coordinate the process of implementation of national competition policy obligations in South Australia as set out in the 1995 Competition Principles Agreement, which was reviewed by COAG in April 2007.

The role of the portfolio agencies includes conducting reviews of anti-competitive legislation and implementing reforms where those are necessary, and applying the principles of competitive neutrality to business activities that may be considered to be significant. Inquiries concerning these should be made to the portfolio agency representative.

In addition to the role of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Treasury's role is to assist portfolio agencies with identification of significant business activities and the application of competitive neutrality principles to those.
